Spring is coming – so is the Galena Community Garden!

The Galena Community Garden is beginning to implement plans for its’ second year.  We are pleased to report a very successful first year.  To review, we had over 100 gardeners in 55 plots, who found the garden experience both productive and enjoyable, over 700 pounds of vegetables and fruits were given to the Galena Food Pantry and the junior gardeners from the Middle School under the direction of Nat Ewers, learned all about gardening and worked diligently to make their garden special.  These fine young people have great memories of the experience and 26 kids will be participating this year.  Lastly, we had fun.  The community fellowship was outstanding.  We had quite a turnout for our last get together, an appreciation party for the gardeners and all the people and organizations who make our vision a reality.
